French Line: A luncheon menu from June 11, 1935, during the return leg of the NORMANDIE's maiden voyage to New York. During the trip over the ship had won the Blue Ribband at an average speed of 29.98 knots. But on the return trip she went even quicker, 30.31, and it was the first time any liner had crossed the Atlantic faster than 30 knots. Needless to say she won the Blue Ribband eastbound too. The ship was filled to capacity that voyage. This menu is from Tourist Class, the equivalent of Second Class, and features such delicacies as Cold Lobster, Loin of Veal in Jelly, and Broiled Tenderloin Hoteliere. There is a little wear around the edges but otherwise in very good condition.
