BRITANNIC: 1930<br>Press releases
Cunard Line: "The 27,000-ton Cunard White Star liner BRITANNIC, which has been in the hands of Harland and Wolff, Ltd.., on Merseyside, from many months past, on Saturday resumed her normal commercial service." Thus reads a Fairplay press release dated May 27, 1948. This collection of press releases includes 19 issued under the "Cunard White Star News" heading and cover the arrivals and departures of the ship from New York. This was back in the era when newspapers eagerly reported the coming and going of notable passengers. "Former Broadcasting Director in Palestine Due Saturday on BRITANNIC" announces a release dated September 16, 1948. "BRITTANIC Sails Wednesday on First Irish Xmas Excursion Since Pre-War Days" reads the headline on a December 13, 1948 release. From October 6, 1950: "Three Scottish Calls Scheduled for BRITANNIC Next Summer". They make for interesting reading in the live of this notable ship. Most of the releases are from 1948 to 1950 with a smattering from later years. To keep everything in order, included is an unused portrait menu of the ship.
