United States Lines: From a public room ceiling somewhere onboard the UNITED STATES comes this 16" diameter vent. Like most fixtures onboard America's flagship, the vent is crafted out of famed designer William Francis Gibbs' favorite material, aluminum. Four thumbscrews held the cover up and when released it would swing down on a hinge. The vent is powder-coated in an ivory color and shows some scratches and discoloration to the finish but otherwise is in very good condition. Removed by a far-sighted collector in the late 1980s who cherished the mid-century design on the ship.
