TUSCANIA: 1922
Giant postcard

TUSCANIA: 1922<br>Giant postcard
Anchor Line: A "Giant Card" (5" by 10") printed by C.W. Hunt of Liverpool. While no beauty, the TUSCANIA served yeoman's duty throughout the 1920s on the Glasgow-New York route, with an occasional detour to the Mediterranean. Cunard sailed her beginning in 1926 for a few years and actually changed her funnel colors to their red and black. After being laid-up for much of the 1930s, the TUSCANIA was sold in 1939 to become the NEA HELLAS, the first ship of the newly minted Greek Line. But when Italy invaded Greece in late 1940 she went back to Anchor Line management as a troop ship but kept the same name, although her crew nicknamed her "Nellie Wallace". After a post-war refurbishment she sailed again for the Greek Line right up until 1959. This "Giant Card" has a small piece of upper right corner missing. Unposted.
