French Line: From an undated cruise(s) onboard the FRANCE, six items saved these many years in a FRANCE envelope. Written on the envelope is the name of Mr. Bert Card, and a cabin number of M-074. That particular cabin is a First Class single inner tucked in next to the block made by the Lorraine Suite. I imagine the cabin was often booked for maids. Either Mr. Card took three cruises, or he fussed a lot about his accommodations. A drinks receipt from the Fontainebleau Restaurant carries his name and a cabin number of M-105, a single outside room hard against the aforementioned Tourist Class restaurant. And then Mr. Card also had a cruise I.D. card with the cabin written down as T-092. Now on my deck plan, while there are "T" cabins on the First Class Boat Deck, the numbers end with 63. Perhaps this goof of booking him into a non-existent cabin earned Bert an upgrade? Also in this little collection is a blank sheet of embossed stationary, the business card of the FRANCE'S maitre d'hotel Paul Hergat, and best of all, an embossed invite from the Captain and Chief Purser for drinks in the Monaco Lounge. Like the mysterious cabin T-092, my deck plan shows no Monaco Lounge. Perhaps the ship's staff just decided to play tricks on a fussy customer? All these items are in very good condition.
