GEORGE WASHINGTON: 1909
Sepia p/c

GEORGE WASHINGTON: 1909<br>Sepia p/c
U. S. Line: This long lived liner started out with NDL in 1908. Seized by the U.S. in 1917, she became a troop ship during WW1. Afterwards she was completely reconditioned and used in transatlantic service by USL. This unused postcard is from that era. In 1931 she went into lay-up, then in 1940 she became a troop ship yet again. She was gutted by fire in 1951 while in lay-up for the 3rd time.
