AQUITANIA: 1914
Agency print

AQUITANIA: 1914<br>Agency print
Cunard Line: The famous portrait of the AQUITANIA which hung in many booking agencies around the globe. The initials "G.T." are in the lower right corner and I am not sure who that might be. It is the details that make these portraits fun to examine. On the AQUITANIA you can see several Third Class passengers on the bow while First Class folks are looking out from the Promenade Deck. Above it all is the Captain leaning out over the portside bridge. The four big funnels exude power and the long liner seems to stretch on forever. Rather than the usually sailboat-about-to-swamped, there is a funny little 3-stack destroyer in the foreground. From her wake you can see that the destroyer is just idling along, perhaps so the crew could get a better look at the "Ship Beautiful" as she steams past. The 13 1/2" by 21 1/2" picture is mounted in its original wood frame with the original Cunard Line brass plaque at bottom. The green matting appears to be of recent vintage. The frame shows a few scrapes, otherwise everything is in very good condition.
