Anchor Line: For a period of almost 20 years, 1916 to 1935, Anchor and the Donaldson Line incorporated in a joint venture to provide passenger service to Canada. Anchor-Donaldson operated such liners as LETITIA and ATHENIA. The Depression and a huge downturn in business ended the venture. This stamp was issued in the late 1920s or early 1930s to commemorate the line. It shows a sailor raising the Union Jack and the Red Duster.
