BERMUDA STAR: 1958
Stephen card portrait

BERMUDA STAR: 1958<br>Stephen card portrait
Bermuda Star Line: A portrait of BERMUDA STAR dated 1984 by famed maritime artist Stephen Card of Bermuda. Card shows the veteran liner chopping through brisk seas with a hint of smoke coming from her twin exhaust stacks near the stern. The funnel was just for show and at the time of her construction in 1958 was labeled a nude sunbathing area. If Dad had booked us on this ship in 1965 instead of the SANTA ROSA, I know that my older brother and I would have spent the voyage hovering close by, hoping to glimpse a bather. At the time this poster was printed the line had just changed its name from Bahama Cruise Lines, and a tag with the new name has been glued over the old name on the lower right margin. This long lasting ship must be in the top 5 for names changes. She was built as Moore McCormack's ARGENTINA, then Holland America's VEENDAM, then for a short time BRASIL, then Monarch's MONARCH STAR, then back to VEENDAM, then BERMUDA STAR, then Commodore's ENCHANTED ISLE. She was scrapped in 2003. This poster was sold in the onboard gift shop. 18 +" by 24" and in mint condition.
