MARCO POLO: 1912
Odyssey Cruise 1938

MARCO POLO: 1912<br>Odyssey Cruise 1938
Adriatica Line: A silver covered pax list with embossed features for an "Odyssey Cruise" onboard the elegant MARCO POLO in July and August of 1938. The 12 pages show that most passengers were Americans, and although no sailing schedule is included, the ship probably departed from New York and sailed to the Mediterranean. A dark blue silk ribbon holds the contents in place. Inside the textured stock pages feature a deco design. The ship had only recently been named MARCO POLO. It began sailing in 1912 on the New York route as KAISER FRANZ JOSEF I. Subsequent names include GENERAL DIAZ, PRESIDENTE WILSON, and GANGE. The Germans sunk the ship in 1944 to block the harbor of La Spezia. The brochure shows a little bending around the cover, otherwise very good condition.
