French Line: A copy of the French publication "L'Illustration" for June 1, 1935, featuring the maiden voyage of the NORMANDIE. Color cover shows the ship departing port. Inside is a very long and detailed 58 page article (in French) with hundreds of photographs and dozens of sketches (several in color) from throughout the ship. Many photos are of items you rarely see from the ship - crew areas, close-ups of china and silver, details of onboard artwork, mechanical areas, and passenger cabins. Of course the grand public rooms are featured in detail. Wow! In the center is a lovely color two page Brenet painting of the ship docked with Le Havre's famous maritime tower behind it. Plus the magazine is filled with gorgeous period ads featuring the ship including (on the back cover and in color)the famous Ford ad with "V8" appearing in the ship's wake. This copy is in very good condition with just a little wear around the edges. If you are a NORMANDIE fan you need to own this issue.
