INDEPENDENCE/CONSTITUTION
While cruising

INDEPENDENCE/CONSTITUTION<br>While cruising
American Hawaii Cruises: A large (5" by 7") unused postcard showing one of the sparkling white sisters steaming towards Oahu with Diamondhead in the background. These two beautiful American ships from 1951 entered a second life as Hawaiian cruise ships in the 1980s and 1990s. But time finally caught up with them. The CONSTITUTION sank while being towed to the breakers in 1997. The INDEPENDENCE entered lay-up in San Fransico in 2001. Sadly she is now being prepared to be towed to the breakers.
