Cunard Line: From the Cunard publicity office in the late 1960s, 3 original publicity photos of the CARMANIA. One shows bikini clad models sipping drinks at a bar while a uniformed officer, cigarette dangling between his fingers, is eager to impress. The other 2 photos are of the ship - a long profile view framed by foliage, and a closer view taken from the tender. The ship looks surprisingly battered in this view and this image has yellowed slightly. Both the CARMANIA and her sister FRANCONIA were retired from the Cunard fleet in 1971. Later the ships were rebuilt as Sitmar's FAIRSEA and FAIRWIND. To my eye they were far more handsome after the awkward domed funnel was re-worked.
