LAFAYETTE: 1930
Sebille portrait

LAFAYETTE: 1930<br>Sebille portrait
French Line: An original travel agency print from the 1930s, this one of the LAFAYETTE by the great French artist Albert Sebille. There is great drama here - spray shooting from the bow, waves whipped by the wind, the Ambrose Lightship heeling over in the seas, and passengers bundled up against the cold. The diesel powered LAFAYETTE was known for her extensive open deck area and stylish Art Deco inspired interiors. This Cabin liner sailed from Le Havre to New York throughout the 1930s. Sadly, like so many French ships, she was destroyed by fire in 1938 while undergoing an overhaul. The original frame has a piano black finished wood frame which shows just a few scratches. The print is in excellent condition. 23" by 29". From the amazing collection of Frank Braynard.
