United Fruit Co: The shiny QUIRIGUA was only 6 months old when the staff of the American Agriculturist journal booked a voyage. One of the aggies saved this group of memories from that long ago cruise in November 1932. There are six fold-over menus from a variety of breakfasts, lunches, and dinners. Offerings such as Havana Red Snapper SautT Doria and Civet of Rabbit, Hunter Style, showed that UFC did not skimp on the table. I would have passed on "Larded Sweetbreads" however. The "Diner d'Adieu" menu lists the 34 folks in the party. Also included a menu card for Thanksgiving. While one could have Roast Vermont Turkey, other choices included Lobster Newburg and Filet of Boquipeuda SautT, Vert-Pre. The final souvenir from the voyage is a 5" by 6" b&w photo of the QUIRIGUA tied up in a tropical port. The ship survived the war, resumed passenger service in 1947, was converted to a freighter in 1953, became Elders & Fyffes SAMALA in 1958, and was scrapped in 1964. Price for all 8 items.
