BAHAMA STAR: 1957<br>Interiors-final
Eastern Steamship Company: A fold-out brochure from December 1974, just months before the ship was sold and laid-up. The BAHAMA STAR, which until 1972 was known as the NEW BAHAMA STAR, was built as Zim Line's handsome little JERUSALEM in 1957. She joined Eastern as a cruise ship in 1969 when their original BAHAMA STAR became too elderly. In this brochure there are interior photos showing off walnut paneled public rooms with gold curtains, and cabins with that eye-popping red so popular in the late 1960s (see the QE 2's original interiors). There are also color-coded deck plans, rates, and itineraries. While described as "popular informal" what is not mentioned is the ship's mechanical problems during 1974. Eastern sold her in 1975 and the ship was laid up. While being towed to the scrappers in 1979 she developed a leak and sank.
