American Container Line: With a few year's experience after its mid-1960s start-up, ACL introduced 6 new freighters with space for 990 automobiles and 720 twenty-foot containers. The modern container/ro-ro ship had arrived. This postcard shows a cut-away of a Generation 2 ship. How different this was compared with freighters of just five years earlier! This postcard is from the early 1970s. When the Generation 3 ships arrived in the mid-1980s, ACL sent all 6 G-2s to the wreckers. Unusual 3 +" by 9" size. Line issued and unused.
