French Line: Here is a rare beast - a French passenger liner that did not burn up in the 1930s. The twin funneled COLOMBIE sailed from Le Havre to the French colonies in the West Indies, plus was used for cruising. During the war she became a troop transport and later a hospital ship. Before returning to French Line service in 1950 the ship was modernized with a single funnel as is shown in this unused, line issued postcard. After leaving the CGT fleet in 1964 she cruised the Mediterranean for several years before being scrapped in 1974.
