Orient Line: The most magnificent and largest ship model I've ever offered at Nautiques. Although I have enjoyed this beauty in my dining room for several years, it is time to find a new owner. I have just knocked $1,000 off the price. The model of the ORIANA measures 50 inches long (127 cm) which places it in 1:200 scale. It is mounted on a sea blue wooden base. Professional model builder Michael Colt did the restoration and you can see the result of his work. The detail is wonderful, from swimming pools and tennis courts to railings and stairways. The hull is painted in the original corn-colored livery that made Orient Line ships so distinct into the early 1960s. I bought it at an auction so its history is unknown. It is made of wood and plastic. A few of the details around the stern are inaccurate, leading me to believe it was built before the ship's 1960 maiden voyage. We deliberately left the stern as is to keep the originality. My guess is that it was commissioned by a travel agency in either Australia or Britain for display in their window. Does anyone remember seeing this model in your long ago travels? Even with a mysterious past, this ORIANA model is magnificent, will appreciate in value, and will be the proud centerpiece of your collection. E-mail if you would like to see more photos.
