Ship History: A large and heavy framed panorama of the famous convoy of October 1914 sailing Canadian soldiers to Europe. The panorama montage shows at least 25 ships stretching off into the distance. The panorama is from "Family Hearld and Morning Star" of Montreal and is titled "Canada's Rally to the Empire - Answering the Call of the Motherland." More than 30 ships took part in the convey carrying 25,000 soliders. Among the ships were Cunard's FRANCONIA and ANDANIA, White Star's LAURENTIC and MEGANITC, and Red Star's ZEELAND and LAPLAND. This display is homemade, with the panorama glued onto floral wallpaper as a background. The thick pine frame is impressively constructed. It measures 20" by 41". This is no keepsake to hang on a parlor wall - I believe it was created to hang in a place of honor in a Canadian legion hall. There is some background water stains and the frame has a few nicks, but overall this interesting tribute is in very good condition.
