French Line: Here is a 4' long wooden model of the NORMANDIE with an attention to detail to match the magnificence of the ship. A little is known of its history - it is a hand crafted scratch built model constructed soon after the ship's fiery destruction in February 1942. The model is 48" long, 6" wide, 12" tall, and comes in a custom made Plexiglas case. Look closely and you can see details such as teak decking, full rigging, the big NORMANDIE sign, window and porthole cut-outs, steam whistles, and ventilator covers. It is believed that this model was restored in the 1960Æs by noted model maker Ted Hindmarsh of Boston, MA., and has been displayed in a 1985 showing of Art Deco artifacts in Miami Beach, FL. This model would be the centerpiece of any ocean liner collection. I have high resolution photos I can send you.
