Ship History: "Cape Town Shipping: Ships at Cape Town from 1962-2000" by Peter Newall, published in 2000, hardbound with 112 pages. Throughout history Cape Town in South Africa has been one of the world's most popular ports. And throughout history Cape Town residents have taken photos of the ships that come to visit. Newall has complied a vast collection of photographs covering a 138 years. There is the GREAT EASTERN arriving in 1869 while laying cable, the early mail ships such as the DUNOTTAR CASTLE in 1890, war-time visitors such as the QUEENS, and a host of cruise ships from the early 1900s until 2000. The section on ship disasters is also very interesting. A great book for browsing. A couple of scrapes on the back cover, otherwise in very good condition.
