Ship History: "Liners of the Golden Age: The Hulton Getty Picture Collection" by Robert Fox, published in 1999, hardbound with original dust jacket, 350 pages. One of my favorite (and heavy) ocean liner books filled with excellent b&w photography taken during the "Golden Age" from 1900 to the early 1970s. Hundreds of detailed and interesting photos - the greenhouse on the decks of the IMPERATOR, the pastry chef of the AQUITANIA standing in front of a cake in the shape of the ship, spectators gawking at the BERMEN in a floating drydock, the dazzle of the Lalique columns of light in the NORMANDIE's Cafe Grill, the rainy launch of the QUEEN MARY, the multi-decked stern of the CANBERRA lit up at night, the QUEEN ELIZABETH on fire from stem to stern in Hong Kong Harbor. The text is in English, German, and French. A great book for any buff's collection.
