ALBERT BALLIN: 1923
Cuxhaven view

ALBERT BALLIN: 1923<br>Cuxhaven view
Hamburg America Line: An unused b&w postcard of the ship docked at Cuxhaven. Named after the man who took HAPAG to such great heights before WW1, the company was pressured by the Nazis to rename HANSA in 1935 because Ballin was Jewish. The HANSA was sunk by a mine in March 1945. After the war the ship was refloated by the Soviets and used for many more years.
