Hamburg American Line: The SIBIRIA was built in 1894 and sold to HAPAG in 1898. When Albert Ballin purchased the Yangtse Line in 1901 the ship was used on that China service. Ballin also bought the British owned Atlas Line for its New York to West Indies banana boat service. What tremendous world-wide reach this company had before the devastation of WW1! In this 12 page passenger list from March 1906 the SIBIRIA is now in Atlas Line service to the Caribbean and Central America. Among the 63 names, a half dozen are listed as cruise passengers for the round trip. Besides a nice portrait of the white liner on the cover, inside is a schedule for HAPAG's important transatlantic service and a list of cruises aboard the METEOR and PRINZESSIN VICTORIA LUISE. The back cover shows a fleet of 12 Atlas Line ships with an extensive sailing schedule. The SIBIRIA was sold to the U.S. Government in 1914 and wrecked in the English Channel in 1916.
