Ship History: "Steel Ships: Their Construction and Maintenance" by Thomas Walton, 3rd edition published in 1904, hardbound, approx. 350 pages. An early edition of a book that was updated right into the 1930s. This book goes into detail on the construction of "modern" steel ships, but the joy here for ocean liner buffs are the fold-out ship cut-aways. There are about a dozen including a 7 panel cut-away and top view of the CAMPANIA/LUCANIA, a mid-ship section of the same ship, a cut-away of the GREAT EASTERN along with a mid-ship section, and cut-aways of several types of smaller ships. Very nice gold stamped cover. However, the book is in fair condition because the binding has come apart.
